Since joining in 2017, Carlos has been integral to the firm, previously serving as CFO prior to transitioning to Chief of Staff and now, as a Safe Harbor Senior Advisor and Head of the Serrano Family Office. Carlos remains actively involved with the Firm, strategically advising leadership to achieve seamless team integration, operational efficiency, and staffing as the firm expands. Carlos has over 40 years of accounting, finance and operational experience in multiple industries such as public accounting, master land development, homebuilding, hospitality, manufacturing, real estate investment and distressed debt.
His career began with Price Waterhouse (PW) in the audit department where he became one of the firm’s top managers. Additional experience includes various senior roles in accounting and finance at real estate companies as well as a CFO for a manufacturing company in which Mr. Rivera spearheaded the complete re-engineering of the business. His experience also includes years working as the Real Estate Owned Controller at Rialto Holdings, which comprised over 10,000 assets attained from foreclosures on Non-Performing Loans (NPLs), acquisitions, and joint ventures.
Carlos is an Alden Scholar from Allegheny College with a BS in Economics. He holds a Master of Business Administration in Finance and Accounting from the University of Rochester, earned through the Consortium scholarship program for top minorities in the US and is a CPA.
